Marfa, was on my mind for over a decade before I boarded a flight to El Paso with my best friend for the first leg of our journey. Our trek began in the midst of the August heat. Jumping from Houston to our connecting flight, a 3 seat across, purple upholstered, no frills plane we landed in El Paso.
Our red Sole gave a hot pepper start to our drive, averaging 80 MPH for 3 plus hours directly southwest into the High Chihuahuan Desert. Locating Marfa is one thing, understanding Marfa is another.
Lots of desert lots of miles, through one time zone after another and back again. Forget what time it is until it’s time to reverse. Confusing and not worth explaining except I’m obsessed and excited by time zones: makes me feel like I’m time traveling.
